Nervous System Reset

A short down-regulation practice for moments of overload, agitation, and mental noise.

The Feeling

Your chest feels tight, your thoughts race, and everything feels too loud.

Why It Happens

When the nervous system reads threat, attention narrows and the body prepares for action. Without interruption, this loop keeps escalating.

The Practice

Exhale longer than you inhale for 10 rounds. Keep shoulders soft and let your jaw unclench on each out-breath.

What you need

  • Find a stable seat or stand with both feet grounded.
  • Inhale through the nose for 4 counts.
  • Exhale slowly for 6-8 counts.
  • Repeat for 2-4 minutes.

Why this works

Longer exhalation can increase vagal tone and reduce physiological arousal, helping the system shift toward a calmer baseline.
